Let’s identify 4 such plus cash games in the first round game of the week.

PENN STATE + 2.5 (-102) vs. Texas A & M – Thursday, 7:25 p.m.
Penn State is one of the few Big Ten teams not named Purdue worth keeping an eye on this first weekend. The teams from this conference came out of a meat grinder, a high-quality round-robin that has equalized the stats more than the talent behind them.
With a score of 38.5% from 3 points (ranked 13th), the 10th seeded Nittany Lions can do aerial combat with the Aggies No. 7.
PSU also plays at the slowest third tempo; some of the slower teams that have beaten Texas A&M head-on include Boise State, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Wofford.
Penn State did well to stay inside and stay in basketball, and that power flew in the face of what the Aggies wanted to do. The lion is the live dog in this game.
DRAKE + 2.5 (-112) vs. Miami-Friday, 7:25 pm.
The contest was a 12-5 Midwest Region fight (DU-UM) in Albany. It featured a Miami Hurricanes squad that may have gotten too much praise from the weaker-than-usual ACC with Drake’s five on a roll.
The Bulldogs are 13-1 in their last 14 games and have outscored opponents by an average of 14.7 points while shooting 40.9% from long range.
DU is an experienced group and who plays the ball in charge at both ends of the floor.
Miami can sometimes struggle against teams that defend the perimeter well; that’s Drake’s strength (30.6% 3-point defense (30th)).
Under coach Jim Larra Ramaga, the Hurricanes went 2-5 against the spread in their last 7 NCAA Tournament games.

MONTANA State + 8.5 (-110) vs. Kansas State-Friday, 9: 40 p.m.
It’s cat fever at this Eastern Conference game in Greensboro on Friday.
The 14th-seeded Bobcats faced Wildcat No. 3, but considered this more of a wild opportunity for more bracket runs than just a 1-time upset.
There are some weak spots in the potential 2nd and 3rd games if Montana State advances here.
Kansas State has recorded consecutive flat performances, and the Wildcats were just weeks removed from a similar stretch in February.
MSU reached the one-ton line (9th most free throws per game nationally), and the Bobcats entered the Eastern Conference brackets after winning 8 straight games.
FURMAN + 5.5 (-110) vs. Virginia-Thursday, 12:40.
Furman-seed No. 13 in the southern regions-is a live wire due to the percentage of buckets it gets on the edge and from a distance of 3 points.
The Paladins gave Penn State Tournament participants a game in November (a 73-68 loss in November. 17).
They swept Southern Conference titles in the regular season and Circuit tournaments, and they entered the Big Dance with a 14-1 record since Jan. 18.
Virginia can struggle offensively and has shot only 28.4% from long range since February. 7. Under coach Tony Bennett, UVA was 7-13 ATS in NCAA Tournament play.
